Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club
It was 82 degrees and partly cloudy when we visited Fort Lauderdale in early December, and it's appeal as a wintertime destination should be obvious. Let's start with big, wide beaches, lots of palm trees, and the warm ocean waters, combined with a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. We'll begin our tour of Fort Lauderdale at the beach across from the Bahia Mar Hotel and Resort on Seabreeze Boulevard, just north of the Sheraton Yankee Clipper Resort.
The Bahia Mar Yacht Club is located here as well. Other hotels in this area include the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa, the Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club, and the Best Western Oceanside Inn.
This area is a couple of miles north of the cruise ship terminals at Port Everglades and the Riverwalk; if you prefer to stay near the harbor, check out the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Resort & Spa, the Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel and the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel.
Continuing north on Route A1A we'll pass the beach at Las Olas. There are numerous hotel choices just north of here, including the St. Regis Resort Fort Lauderdale, Marriott Beachplace Towers, Gigi's Resort by the Beach, the Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel, the Sea Club Resort, the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, and The Atlantic Resort and Spa .
