The John Hancock Tower, with it's commanding location at the North End of Michigan Avenue's "Magnificent Mile", near the old Chicago Water Tower, is one of Chicago's most prominent landmarks. Hotels nearby include the Westin Michigan Avenue, the Park Hyatt Chicago, The Drake Hotel, Ritz Carlton Hotel Chicago, the Wyndham Chicago, the Peninsula Chicago, the Marriott Chicago Downtown, and the Chicago Four Seasons Hotel. Here's what "Big John" looks like from street level.

We thought you might like to see the view from the 95th floor Observation Deck of the Hancock Tower. We were right up in the clouds when we shot this pano.

Another of Chicago's popular attractions just a short distance away, is the Navy Pier, which extends out almost a mile into Lake Michigan. Hotels near Navy Pier include the W Chicago Lakeshore, and the Embassy Suites Lakefront.

Shopping along the Magnificent Mile is on a par with 5th Avenue in Manhattan, or Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. At the south end of the Magnificent Mile, here's the view from the Michigan Avenue Bridge, which crosses the Chicago River near Wacker Drive. The large building in the center is the Wrigley Building. Hotels near the river include the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, the Hyatt Regency, the Hotel Monaco Chicago, the Hotel 71 Chicago, the Swissotel Chicago, the Fairmont, the Renaissance Chicago Hotel, and the House of Blues.

A few blocks south, you'll find "The Loop" - Chicago's business and theater district. Hotels near the loop include the Palmer House Hilton, the W Chicago City Center, and the Hyatt on Printers Row.
