Hotel Le Palais
Our look at Prague begins at Old Town Square. That's the Tyn Church on the right. One of the most fascinating attractions in Old Town Square is the famous "astronomical clock", which is located on the Old Town Hall. You can see the astronomical clock in our Prague photo gallery. We've also created a 3 minute video tour of Old Town Square if you'd like a more interactive look around.
Here's another look at Old Town Square, taken in front of the statue of Jan Hus that stands at it's center. That's St. Nicholas Church on the left, and the Narodnie Galerie (National Gallery) on the right. Old Town Square is adjacent to the Jewish Quarter (Josefov) and it's about a 10 minute walk to the Charles Bridge and the Vltava River.
This area of Prague is quite crowded with tourists, so our choice was to stay in a quieter neighborhood and enjoy the amazing service at Le Palais Hotel, which offers a free shuttle to Old Town Square, however, hotel selections in this neighborhood include the Iron Gate Hotel and the Grand Hotel on Old Town Square.
Walking around Prague is like being in a postcard, or in a fairy-tale. Here's a look at the Charles Bridge, looking towards Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral dominating the skyline from the hill on the other side of the river. Hotels in this area include the Pachtuv Palace.
Here's the view walking across the Charles Bridge towards Mala Strana ("Lesser Town") and Prague Castle. There's lots to do, including boat and balloon rides, and there are concerts all over the city. Hotel selections in Mala Strana include the Aria Hotel, and the Monastery Garden Hotel.
This is the view from the observation tower on Petrin Hill, which offers a spectacular view of the city. On the left you can see how St. Vitus Cathedral is completely enclosed within Prague Castle, above the red rooftops of Mala Strana, with the Vltava River and the Old Town on the right. Hotels in this vicinity include the Mamaison Riverside Hotel.
Now lets go inside the walls of Prague Castle where, on the left, you can see one end of St. Vitus Cathedral, showing flying buttress architecture much like Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. You can see some photos from the spectacular interior of the cathedral (including some incredible stained glass) in our Prague Gallery. If you'd like to stay near the castle, consider the Crowne Plaza Prague Castle.
Our last stop in Prague is Wenceslaus Square, which is more of a long promenade than it is a square. At the top end of Wenceslaus Square is the National Museum. Wenceslaus Square is a major tourist area, lined on both sides with restaurants and shops. There are many hotel choices in the neighborhood, including the Esplanade Hotel Prague, Hotel Palace Praha, and Grand Hotel Bohemia.
